- Picture Postcard Posted from Post Box Pictured (Dublin)
4" x 6" inches The stylized 'ER' referencing King Edward VII, dates the postbox to between 1901-1910, and would have originally been painted red when Ireland was a UK colony. The address of the postbox is Hybreasal House, South Circular Road, Dublin 8. Hybreasal or Hy-Brazil is the name of a mythical, sunken island off of the west coast of Ireland, linked to Atlantis. Hybreasal House, now apartments, was formerly a convent with "Virgin Mary Blue" railings visible to the left. South Circular Road is the historic boundary of Dublin and the former main circular road around the city. The road runs parallel to the Grand Canal, used to distribute Guinness by boat from the nearby brewery throughout the country, and then internationally from ports on the other side of Ireland. Above notes on the postbox provided by Michael Hill. |
